We all are different human beings and we react do different situation differently, we also feel, understand, etc. situations and things differently.

Let me give you an example. There is number 6 written on a desk where two different people are sitting opposite each other and they are asked to read the number written in front of their desk. Two of them replied with a different number. Now, the question arises that who is right? And the only answer was both of them. Logically 6 when inverted or looked from the opposite side looks 9 and same for the digit 9.

That’s where perceptions play their role.

Perception refers to the way sensory information is organized, interpreted and consciously experienced. Perception involved both bottom-up and top-down processing. Bottom-up processing refers to the fact that perceptions are built from sensory input. Top-down processing refers to how we interpret those sensations is influenced by our available knowledge, our experienced and our thoughts.

It happens to many of us during our day-to-day life that we become pray or are the ones who perceive things differently. For example: you do one mistake and you are perceived as irresponsible, or you perceive some person in a particular way because of different reasons, etc.

Sometimes we even think of our own past examples of things we did or some kind of photos that we clicked and uploaded and say “why did I do this or why was I interested in this?” etc.

Perceptions is all about learning or understanding things from what one knows and what one experiences. It all depends on the level of one’s understanding of a certain concept or concepts.

How this information helps you?

Most of us are disturbed because we feel that the opposite person behaved in a particular way or the opposite person is not understanding what you are saying or trying to explain, or you are not able to understand someone because of certain own set of thinking or perceptions you may hold.

Using the knowledge that everything is just a matter of perception, helps you to calm down at first and then think of a possible way out of a particular situation.

Because if you start thinking that he/she must be thinking this way, but that’s not how I think…it will help you to maintain your inner peace and happiness.

Because what you are doing is you are accepting that the opposite person is thinking or reacting or feeling in a particular way but that’s not who you are because you think, react or feel differently in a particular way. It makes you accept the situation and let go your negative thoughts, which makes you think calmly to deal with the situation.
